Southwest Airlines: Emotional Baggage, Bottled in Bond, Honoring "AZI" (K9 Officer)

The Breakup: A DALLAS LOVE STORY
For years, Southwest Airlines was the perfect partner. No baggage fees, no drama—just love, loyalty, and free-spirited travel. It wasn’t just a relationship; it was a vibe.
But then, one day, Southwest sat us down and said, “We need to talk.”
At first, we thought it was about upgrading to Business Select or maybe adjusting our Rapid Rewards. But no. This was serious.
“I think… I think I need to start charging you for your baggage.”
Our hearts stopped.
“Wait. You? The airline that said, ‘Bags fly free because we love you?’ The one who said we didn’t have to be like the others?”
Southwest sighed. “Look, times are tough. I’ve changed.”
We laughed nervously. “So, what? Are you gonna start charging for smiles, too?”
Southwest looked away. “I just need a little… space. Financially speaking.”
And just like that, the trust was gone.
Sure, maybe we should’ve seen the signs—airfares creeping up, flights getting a little too full. But we never thought Southwest would become the very thing it swore it wasn’t.
Now, we’re left with a choice: stay in a relationship where we pay for what used to be free… or move on to another airline that will, inevitably, break our hearts the same way.
Love in the skies is dead. And baggage? Well, it just got emotional.
