Legacy West, the premier North Texas destination for luxury retail and dining, is inviting North Texans to escape to the Mediterranean this season (without leaving Plano!) with its newest seasonal activation, "Everything is Coming Up Lemons."
Open now, the installation transforms the Legacy West Parklet into a vibrant, lemon-themed retreat inspired by the sun-drenched groves of the Amalfi Coast.
Located in the heart of the development near Nike and Free People, the "Euro Spring" installation serves as a lush, photo-ready sanctuary where visitors are encouraged to slow down and soak up la dolce vita.
The activation is expected to remain in place through late May, eventually transitioning into a summer theme.
"We wanted to create a space that feels like a true escape for our guests," said Liz Gallagher, director of property marketing and specialty leasing with Legacy West. "Whether you’re stopping by for a quick photo or spending an afternoon enjoying the shops, we want everyone to feel that la vita è bella right here in Plano."
McKinney has a new neighbor, and it brought tequila.
Barrio Tacos + Tequila + Whiskey — the Ohio-born chain opened its first Texas location on March 5 at 9401 W. University Drive in McKinney.
The brand, which has been voted one of the top 10 taco stands in the United States, takes a creative approach to the dish that feels less like an outsider crashing the party and more like a friend showing up with something you didn't know you needed. The concept is build-your-own everything. Diners pick from over a dozen proteins — barbacoa beef, cola-marinated steak, spicy blackened cod, Thai chili tofu — then pile on toppings, salsas, and sauces until the tortilla begs for mercy.
But Barrio isn't just a taco shop. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., featuring half-off tequila and whiskey, $6 house margaritas, and $1 off tacos and drafts. Barrio-tacos The bar program is a genuine draw, with cocktails like a coconut-forward Coco Loco and a blackberry bourbon lemonade that has no business being that good at a taco joint.
Then there's the vibe. Every Barrio location is decked out in vibrant murals, skeletal figures, sugar skulls, and custom metalwork, with the McKinney spot featuring work by muralist Mike Kotlarek. It's colorful, and unapologetically fun — Instagram bait that actually has substance behind it.
The restaurant is currently open for dinner service only, from 3–11 p.m. weekdays and 3 p.m. to midnight on weekends, with brunch plans in the works. The patio is dog-friendly, and yes, they'll give your pup a complimentary taco-shaped treat.
